A walk in the Park
I bid you all a warm and friendly welcome.
Step through the gates that lead into the park;
Erratic as our lives may often be
We all can take the time to feel the breeze,
Or watch the colours changing on the leaves
Beneath the shining sun. Every tree
Can stand alone so beautifully and perfect
In its individual nature, in its
Independent form. Every branch
Will form a gesture unlike any other;
Two leaves you will not ever find alike.
Although two trees may germinate from seeds
That fell, now long ago, from off the same
Great parent tree; the same species has grown,
The selfsame family, and yet we see
That these two trees each found a diff'rent way
To grow, to spread their leaves, to reach
Their fingers t'wards the sun and unfold
Beauty, life, and love within the world.
The banners of our minds should be unfurled,
And wave their wonders from the mountain peak.
The time for meekness, gentle modesty is past:
Stand in the winds of time and feel the blast,
The call that pulls, insists, cajoles, demands
You stand and deliver and give what you can.
Within your hand there lies a key. The door
Above your head awaits; a little door,
An attic, dark perhaps, or dusty even,
Filled with cobwebs and cluttered clumps.
Yet hidden in the darkened pools of shadow
Lie wondrous treasures waiting to be found.
What glorious things abound within us all,
Awaiting but the chance to see the light?
Go search for tarnished silver in the dark,
So together we can burnish it 'til bright!
